VegOut! Helps Build Smart Habits for Teachers and Students

Over 50 Houston-area schools are getting into the groove of VegOut! 2015. This week we want to share two stand-outs: VegOut-inspired meals for teachers were held at Lyons Elementary (Houston ISD) and Pine Shadows Elementary (Spring Branch ISD), which has also conducted VegOut!-themed classes for students. Worksite Wellness Spotlight: Harris Health System

Worksite Wellness programs make up a significant part of the VegOut! effort. Peer support, influence and collaboration make a big difference in developing healthier habits. We are proud to highlight the VegOut! spirit of Harris Health System, one of our collaborators, in a Worksite Wellness spotlight. As of March 11, Harris Health System had 79 of its employees participating in the 2015 VegOut! Challenge, and this year marks the second year the health system has taken the challenge as a team. Cedar Brook Elementary This Week’s Champ VegOut! School Teams

Soccer Great Brian Ching Dishes About VegOut!

Brian Ching speaking 8We talked with Brian Ching, the retired all-time scoring leader for Houston Dynamo and current Managing Director for the NWSL Dash, following his gracious appearance as emcee at the official VegOut! launch breakfast at Canopy in late February. From the podium, he showed his enthusiasm for the VegOut! campaign by holding up a basket placed before the podium, Ching cleverly challenged those in attendance to learn the names of all the vegetables in the leafy-greens centerpiece by the end of the month-long veggie-eating challenge.
